Author E-mail: [email protected] Abstract An improved process for synthesis of Venlafaxine from p-methoxyphenylacetonitrile with cyclohexanone using TBAI as phase transfer catalysis to give almost quantitative yields of cycloalkanols, further is reduced using Raney/nickel in methanolic ammonia, acetic acid and dimethylation using dimethyl carbonate/K2CO3 in DMF. The work is also included to identification, synthesis and characterization of process related impurities of venlafaxine
